Pitch & rhythm

Short, practical help designed for lookup: follow the procedure, then compare the result in your score.

Adjust pitch by step or octave, nudge selections in time, or open the structured replace dialog.

Diatonic transpose

Procedure
  1. Select a note.
  2. Alt + ↑ / ↓ moves by scale step within the active key.

Octave transpose

Procedure
  1. Select a note.
  2. Ctrl+Alt+↑ or Ctrl+Alt+↓.

Shift in time

Procedure
  1. Select one or more notes (not rests) on a single staff.
  2. Ctrl+Shift+← or Ctrl+Shift+→.
Result
Notes move earlier or later by the smallest rhythmic grid the editor allows for that selection.

Replace note / rest dialog

Procedure
  1. Select a note or rest.
  2. Toolbar Note (music icon) or Ctrl+Shift+N.
  3. Choose a preset split or type a custom fragment, then apply.
